Help! I'm Stuck!

Man! I am stuck in a rut. Haven't had anything interesting to post in so long which I know is hard to believe because, c'mon we're dang interesting. Not much goin' on, I suppose. School is a little restrictive, gotta get kid ready and out the door and then be sure and be home by the time the bus drops her off. Ho-hum. Here's something new:We heart Shumway Milk. It's local, comes in a glass jug, about the same price as the grocery store....ooh it's so icy cold delicious being stored in glass. Make me salivate just thinking about it. Once after I started buying it I got a regular gallon at the grocery store to which Darnell voiced, "Eww, too plasticky tasting!" It's only fresh good down home country milk for us now. I wish we had a milkman that would DELIVER it to me.

Speaking of plastic...I was watching Good Morning America the other day. The FDA has been reevaluating hard plastic containers.Bisphenol-A, a chemical that shows up in some baby bottles, food can linings and hard plastic water bottles may alter human development. We've been told not to leave water bottles and such in the car because when they get too warm the plastics start leaching chemicals into the water. Well, guess what? Stay away from the #7 on the bottom of your bottles because they leach even without being warmed up

Of course I go check out our water bottles. Sure enough 7 on all of them.

All right, so the last thing on my mind lately is lunch. School lunches-I need some fun ideas. I've done chips and salsa, fruit skewers, sandwiches cut with cookie cutters, tortilla rolled with cheese and meat, and a lunchable type combo with crackers, meat and cheese. I need more, anyone? Anyone? Some of Ky's friends have said "Mmm, I wish my mom would pack me that!" So now I'm known as the cool mom (was there any doubt?!) and need to live up to it. Help!

Wow, random post!

I'm jealous of your fancy homegrown milk, even though I don't drink milk. I like buying natural local stuff! Oh, and plastic water bottles . . . the devil. Buy a filtered pitcher (like Brita) and refill your own eco-friendly bottles. The only way to go!

Also, school lunches . . . the ones you listed sound great! I always liked taking bagels to school (because I love bagels!). They hold up really well, better than sandwich bread. You can buy the mini ones and make little sandwiches, or just put cream cheese on them. Oh, and check out the apricot bars on Pioneer Woman's website - those look like perfect sack lunch treats.

Thanks for the info on the plastic. As for lunches-I got nothing-my kids are pb & honey only eaters. Boring little twerps! I wish my kids would eat that kind of stuff-don't think I don't try either! Oh. And I too am jealous of your delicious milk, enough to make me consider moving there.

You know what would be fun...especially with the winter changing, and I bet Ky would think it was cool...what about soup in a thermos? I was always jealous of those cool kids that got to bring a thermos full of something delicious to school.
